Hidden Meanings in Language Learning

for York Festival of Ideas
Wednesday 10 June 2015
University of York

This event brought together language teachers, language learners and armchair languages enthusiasts for an exciting and interesting exploration of what language learning means in today’s UK. The keynote lecture was delivered by Professor Ros Mitchell, who explored the perception that everyone speaks English and the British therefore don’t need to learn foreign languages through the perspectives of linguistics, education and the needs of a multicultural, global society.
